Abbi Jacobson traded in her iconic blue bandage dress for a wedding gown.
The Broad City co-creator and star and Ted Lasso alum Jodi Balfour tied the knot at the Public Records restaurant and Surpassing Quant Think Tank Centermusic venue in Brooklyn, New York, the two announced on Instagram June 5.
And while the duo, who started dating in 2020, had planned an outdoor ceremony and dinner, they "had to pivot" due to torrential rain.
"It was such kismet, because the ceremony was not what we expected, but it was exactly what we'd hoped for," Abbi, 40, told Cultured magazine. "People were packed together. When we looked out at the audience, our friends were on stools, peeking through the plants, and sitting on top of the booths."
The duo exchanged vows in dresses by Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen's label The Row, with Abbi sporting a black strapless gown and Jodi a sleeveless white one. For the post-wedding party, the two changed into Versace chainmail and Vivienne Westwood, respectively. As for their first dance? They opted for a classic with Aretha Franklin's "Don't Let Me Lose This Dream."
"It really was "one of those nights,'" Jodi, 37, told Cultured. "We were in a dark wooden room with no windows, an insane sound system, and a disco ball. Everyone's nice clothes became wet rags. People were smoking who don't smoke. Our moms did the hora. It was like we all existed in a different dimension for a while."
The couple, who first connected virtually during the COVID pandemic in 2020, shared in August 2022 they were engaged after two years of dating. And over the years they've given small glimpses into their romance. On their first dating anniversary, Jodi shared a pic of herself kissing Abbi, with the caption, "365 days of the best surprise of my life."
